A promoter's guide to writing a listing that gets real applications

Vague listings attract everyone and nobody. Specific listings attract the right twenty people. Here is what to include.

The best listings read like a brief, not a poster. They tell an artist in thirty seconds whether this is for them and what saying yes would mean.

Say what the night is

Genre, room, capacity, the crowd you actually get. "Eclectic" is not a genre. If it is a 300-cap room that does well with alt-R&B on Thursdays, say so.

Say what you need

Set length, whether you need a full band or a solo set, whether they bring backline, and the draw you expect. Artists can plan around honesty; they cannot plan around optimism.

Say what you pay

A range is fine. "Paid" is not. A pay range plus what is covered is the single biggest driver of application quality we see.

Say when it closes

A real deadline and a decision date. Applicants who know when they will hear back do not chase you.

Use the structure

KONNOVA listings have fields for all of this, which means applications come in comparable and filterable. You spend your evening choosing, not decoding.
